Franchise Resales in Lockhart

Selling a franchise means satisfying two parties: your buyer and your franchisor. We find buyers who can meet the brand's requirements, keep the sale quiet while you keep operating, and steer the transfer through approval so your exit closes on schedule.

Your franchisor has a say in who buys

Selling an independent shop is mostly a matter between two people. With a franchise, the brand gets a vote. The franchisor usually approves or declines the buyer, may keep a right of first refusal, and often charges a transfer fee. All of that lives in your franchise agreement, and it shapes the timeline well before price comes up.

We read that agreement with you first, so there are no surprises later. Then we value the unit, market it confidentially, and bring the franchisor in at the right moment. Buyers come to us from Lockhart, San Marcos, Kyle and the wider area, and we work with you at our office or by phone and video. We handle it the way we would for a neighbor down the street: plain answers and regular updates.

Buying a resale instead of a new unit? We help that side too, through our Buy a Business work, and new listings go to registered buyers first.

What our franchise resale work covers

Franchise agreement review
We go through the transfer clauses, remaining term, renewal options and any right of first refusal. You will know what the franchisor can require before a buyer ever sees your listing.
Unit valuation
We look at your cash flow after royalties and ad fund contributions, the years left on the agreement and the lease, and how comparable units in the system have sold. The valuation is free and confidential.
Buyer screening against brand standards
Most franchisors set minimums for liquid capital, net worth and experience. We screen buyers against those numbers early so time is not lost on someone who will be turned down.
Confidential marketing
Your listing is written without your name or exact location. Buyers sign a confidentiality agreement before they learn which unit it is, which protects you with staff, customers and the brand.
Transfer coordination
We help assemble the buyer's application, track training dates and any required remodel or refresh, and keep the franchisor, landlord and lender moving toward the same closing date.

Signs it may be time to sell your franchise

  • Your renewal date is getting close

A unit with several years left on its agreement is easier to sell. If renewal would mean signing up for another long term you do not want, selling first is often the better choice.

  • A remodel requirement is coming

Brands often require image updates on a schedule. Some owners would rather sell and let a new operator make that investment, and that can be built into the deal.

  • You are running the store instead of owning it

If you are covering shifts and missing family time, a buyer with fresh energy may be a better fit for the unit, and you can move on with your equity.

  • You want to retire or move

Life changes. Starting the sale while the unit is still performing well gives you more buyers and a stronger price than waiting until you have to sell.

How a franchise resale works with us

  1. 1

    A confidential first call

You tell us about your unit and your goals. We ask about your agreement, lease and recent numbers, and we explain what the franchisor will likely need from you.

  2. 2

    Valuation and listing

We prepare your valuation and a confidential listing. You pay nothing up front, and we agree together on the asking price and terms before anything goes out.

  3. 3

    Qualified buyers and offers

We introduce buyers who meet the brand's financial and experience standards, set up meetings, and help you compare offers on terms as well as price.

  4. 4

    Franchisor approval and closing

The buyer applies to the franchisor and completes discovery and training. We track every step, coordinate the lease assignment and financing, and stay with you through closing day.

What affects the cost and the sale price

There is no retainer to sign with us, and nothing tucked into the fine print. Our fee is paid from the proceeds once your sale closes, so if the unit does not sell, you owe us nothing. What your unit brings, and what the transfer itself costs, comes down to a few things we will go over with you.

Cash flow after royalties
Buyers value what the owner actually takes home after royalties, marketing fees and payroll. Clean, consistent books support a stronger price.
Term left on the agreement
More years remaining means less uncertainty for the buyer. A short term can still sell, but the price often reflects the renewal cost ahead.
Transfer fees and remodel requirements
Many franchisors charge a transfer fee and may require updates at sale. Who pays these is negotiable, and it affects your net proceeds.
Lease terms
A long, assignable lease at a fair rent makes the unit more attractive. A lease near its end may need to be renegotiated before closing.

Franchise resale questions

Something not covered here? (512) 337-8573

Does my franchisor have to approve the buyer?

In almost every system, yes. The franchisor reviews the buyer's finances and background and usually requires training before the transfer. We screen buyers against those standards up front so approval is not a surprise at the end.

Can the franchisor buy my unit instead?

Some agreements give the franchisor a right of first refusal, meaning they can match an accepted offer. We check your agreement for this clause at the start and plan the timeline around it.

How do you keep the sale quiet from employees and regulars?

We keep your name and address out of the listing, and every buyer signs a confidentiality agreement before we tell them which unit it is. Walkthroughs are planned around slow hours or held away from the store, so your crew and customers see business as usual. You decide when, and whether, to tell your team.

How long does a franchise resale usually take?

It varies with the brand, the buyer's financing and the franchisor's approval process. The transfer steps, like training and discovery, add time compared with an independent sale, so we build them into the plan from day one.

Is buying a resale better than opening a new unit?

A resale comes with sales history, trained staff and an open location, so a lender can see real numbers. A new unit has no track record but no prior owner's habits either. We can help you weigh both, and our Acquisition Financing Guidance page covers how lenders look at each.
